CNY - Part 2
For my family, we would celebration Lunar new year by following the traditional Chinese cultural. On the first day, we would gather in the house of the most senior member of the family, greet them and give blessing, exchange of Mandarin Oranges is also a must, and wearing the auspicious colored Red (at least nothing close to black!) is compulsory.
Without fail, every first day of Lunar new year my whole family will visit my Grandma at Jurong East and will have a steamboat lunch there before we move off to the second designation. Normally my family would split into 2 group, my mum and brother would go to the temple first to make offerings and pray for good health and good fortune, the rest of the family members will proceed to Grandma's house.

CNY 2011 - Part 1
CNY preparation....
Every year top of the list when it come to CNY is......SHOPPING...!!!!!!!! (That's the only part i enjoyed most)
These are loots for this year.
Like previous years, i have to work till eve of CNY and got to rush home to do last minute cleaning and tidying, which would always take me till quite late. As a result, our dinner is never early. :(
Reunion dinner is a tradition for every family, but for the past years, my mum would just chop the 拜拜chicken and other offerings for our dinner. Then whoever hungry just take our own bowl and get our own food, never is there a Reunion dinner. Only till last year, she started this steamboat thingy, finally it's a more 像样的团圆饭. As for this year, she improved the steamboat equipment. :)
Abalone, a must have for new year. There are too many types of abalone, the vegetarian style, the mushroom lookalike kind, big ones, tiny ones, dried ones and fresh (usually preserved) ones. Prices of the abalone is also one thing we have to look out during new year, it would be like stock markets.

Ours..... canned ones of course!
Ugly tired me....

揾到食 - 9 Jan 2011
Found another 24hr makan store...!!!

It looks like a rambled old store from the outlook, never been there you never know they serve authentic Hong Kong Dim Sum. They have a outdoor seat and indoor air-conditioned seat, but of cos don't expect a Ding Tai Fong kind of standard there...
The indoor seating are a bit crampy, they also do not cater for big groups of diners, either 4 or 8 person seating. Thus, the 8 person sitting are difficult to get and usually shared with different groups of people.
Outdoor seat are very close to the road side, so for those who are unbearable to vehicle exhaust piping away
My partner in crime...

Scribble of order that can only be understand by the attendant there.

I always find that the "cup" for our drinks are very interesting.

皮蛋粥

一滴也不剩!

The difference of this store is the food variety, they do have their speciality that other restaurant doesn't have, they do make effort to be different from others, and i found that the taste of the food here give me an authentic feel of Hong Kong.

Last but not least, evidence of me getting fatter!

I fav BBQ, love the meat, love the crisp bite, love the smell and the seasoning tastes.
